Video Calling Patients

Ava allows you to video call with patients, even if they don’t have Connect accounts.

1. Open a patient's chart and select the screen icon from their label.

To move the video popup window around, click and drag the centre or the four-way arrow icon in the top left of the window.

2. Click Start Video. This will not send out anything to the patient.

Each time you use a new browser you will need to allow Ava access to your camera and microphone. When you click Start Video there is usually a popup from your browser that will allow you to do so.

3. To invite the patient to the video call, use the buttons in the bottom of the video window.

Select Invite via e-mail or Invite via text.

You will have the option to enter/preview the email or phone number to which Ava will send an invite.

Then press Invite to send the patient a link to join the call. Only now will the patient be able to join the video call.

4. To end the call use the “x” at the top right of the video window or click Stop Video and then the “x”.

Patients do not have a button to hang up from the video call.

They must close the browser window they are using if they want to hang up first.
