The Calgary Student Run Clinic has been part of Ava’s story from the early days.

Based out of the Mustard Seed Wellness Centre, the clinic was one of the first to use Ava and became an important part of Ava’s early growth in Calgary. What started as a local connection has continued to reflect something bigger: the value of supporting care teams who are serving their communities in practical, meaningful ways.

Today, the clinic provides accessible care to people who may otherwise face barriers in the healthcare system. Student clinicians work alongside staff physicians, creating a space where patients receive support while future providers gain experience in real clinical settings.

Supporting More Than Clinic Operations

For a student-run clinic, the work extends far beyond each appointment.

Teams need to coordinate care, understand the communities they serve, track clinic activity, and create learning opportunities that prepare students for practice. Ava helps support that day-to-day work by giving the clinic a real-world EMR environment where care, documentation, and clinic operations can come together.

That support has helped the clinic better understand patient needs, track clinic metrics, and plan future projects with more intention. It has also given students early exposure to an EMR used across clinics in the city, helping them build familiarity with the tools and workflows they will carry into their careers.
